One Day
Just finished this one tonight. Somewhat autobiographical… Everybody has to make this choice at least once in their lives. This is the way it was for me about half a century ago…

Lyrics:
One day I was a dreamer, one day I was a fool
Chasing after shadows, breaking the rules
Thought my future was endless, thought my heart was safe
But life will teach you its lessons, in the hardest ways
I built my house on wishes, I carved it out of thin air
Spoke in riddles and stories, but no one was there
Held the sky in my fingers, till it slipped right through
One day I was a dreamer, the next I lost the view
One day I stumble, one day I fly
One day I’m lost, the next I survive
Dreams can break you, but dreams can come true
Say the poets, the dreamers, the fools…
I traced my name on the waters, it floated away with the tide
Chasing echoes through silence, with nowhere to hide
There he stood in the doorway, arms outstretched as a friend
and my burden so heavy – no need to pretend
Then a crack in the darkness – and morning shines through
One day you’re broken, then all becomes new
One day I stumble, one day I fly
One day I’m lost, the next I survive
Dreams can break you, but dreams can come true
Say the poets, the dreamers, the fools…
Every fall was a lesson, every scar a sign
The burden I carried didn’t have to be mine…
One day I stumble, one day I rise
One day I’m broken, but now I’m alive
He can save you, and carry you through
Say the poets, the dreamers, the fools…
Say the poets, the dreamers, the fools…
I’m a poet, a dreamer, a fool…
