Lift Your Voices
Another oldie. This one is still a work in progress – a few rough spots that I need some time to smooth out. But hey – it’s Sunday morning, so…
Lyrics:
[verse 1]
Long ago on a hill called Golgotha – the place of the skull
One man paid a ransom in blood for the sins of us all
Though the unbending justice of almighty God we should feel
In our place stands His Son – so His limitless love is revealed
[verse 2]
Enduring the hate and reproach of the masses He died
But the strength of the grave could not manage to hold Him inside
He came forth on the third day and sits at the Father’s right hand
Just accept His forgiveness – you’ll never fear judgment again
[chorus]
Lift your voices and worship the Son
In spirit and truth – for the things that He’s done
Give Him glory and honor and worship
Let praises be sung for the victory He’s won
[verse 3]
It’s been two thousand years since His promise that He would return
But in the hearts of His people the hope of His coming still burns
For we know someday soon we’ll behold Him in glory and power
And the once barren deserts of Zion will blossom and flower
[chorus]
[instrumental solo]
[verse 4]
Now boldly we come to the Father’s through Jesus – the door
And His spirit gives hope to the hopeless as never before
If we’re faithfully running the race then we’ll run for the prize
With a song in our hearts for we know our redemption draws night
[chorus]
