Gambling Man

Gambling Man

Another chorus I wrote some years ago. I don’t remember when or why. I finished it today because I enjoy the process, and because the world doesn’t have enough cliche infested country songs 🙂

Lyrics:

Just another broken heart

rolled the dice, the odds against me right from the start

love is a gamble and I’m a gambling man

sometimes you leave the table with nothing in your hands

She smiled at me and the night caught fire,

Like the neon knew her name

I should’ve seen those sparks expire,

But I walked on into the flame

We talked until the lights went low,

My heart wanted it to be right

Thought I’d found the one, but no

I never saw the fading light
Funny how a moment fools your plans
‘Til it’s slips right on through your hands

[Chorus]

Hold on tighter than the truth,

Hoping fate will change the plan

But luck don’t bend for reckless hearts—

It never has, it never can

[Chorus]

Nothing in your hands…
