clear calm
silent but for the soft swishing
of the occasional wind
moving on the crystal snow
quiet - almost asleep
no footprint mars the virgin surface
no stick of brush is softly lit
by flickering firelight
by the soft yellow glow escaping
through a frosted window
jammed
stark and frozen
outlined against the barren crusty ground
by the shimmering light
of a pale winter moon.
